After his basketball coaching career, Yanni Hufnagel started working on a new enhanced water with Perfect Lemon in 2017. By 2019, it was one of the best new products. Yanni would love for his company to reach $5 billion since Vitaminwater was worth $4.2 billion before the Coca-Cola Company. The original product is water infused with organic lemon juice, but there are newer products to help achieve the goal of a $5 billion valuation. They now have a 5-calorie, zero-sugar lemon water, and the company has a valuation of over $100 million. In 2020, Beyonce boosted Perfect Lemon by having the product behind her in a photo. Enhanced waters are popular in the US since soda and energy drinks are inexpensive but not as popular as they once were. The enhanced water market is booming after the increased health complications of excess sugar. Other companies have been offering enhanced water as a healthier alternative for years, but the beverage category is even more competitive than it’s ever been. Yanni Hufnagel knows Americans look for the best deals when shopping, so he insisted on an affordable beverage to stand out. Some cold-pressed juices and enhanced water can be on the higher end of the market. Perfect Lemon sells for $1.99 a bottle. Perfect Lemon is now in stores from Whole Foods to Dollar General. The results prove the pricing strategy works.
