Introducing Gretchen Robinson, the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation’s General Counsel
Residents of Roosevelt Island are fortunate to have Gretchen K. Robinson as the Vice President and General Counsel of the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC). Robinson previously served as leader of the Law Department at Hackensack Meridian Health and brought an extensive health and business law background.
Gretchen Robinson’s educational credentials are impressive. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Psychology from Pitzer College and a Juris Doctor degree from Thomas M Cooley Law School. Robinson has 12 years of experience with Hackensack Meridian Health, during which time she was also part of the Board of Trustees for the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation.
On September 6th, 2019, Gretchen was appointed General Counsel for the RIOC by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. She oversees the RIOC legal initiatives, policy protocols, and government affairs. Robinson has been pivotal in advancing a number of initiatives on Roosevelt Island, including heading the Learning Bridges Program.
The Learning Bridges Program was established in 2020 to provide free childcare services for children between Grades 3-K and 8th. The program utilizes facilities such as the Sportspark building and Firefighters Field, in addition to the north bubble of the Roosevelt Island Racquet Club. The City thoroughly inspected the facilities, culminating in an approved air quality test, before the program began.
Council Member Ben Kallos expressed his appreciation of the Learning Bridges Program, praising Robinsons’ efforts to help the Roosevelt Island community. Similarly, Rep. Carolyn Maloney and Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright thanked Robinson for her service to Roosevelt Island.
HCK Recreation Inc., the managing partner of Roosevelt Island Racquet Club, was chosen by the City of New York as the qualified provider for the Learning Bridges Program. With an extensive background in child-oriented initiatives and a career history in city charities, Robinson spearheaded the program for Roosevelt Island.
Gretchen Robinson is an invaluable part of the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation. With her extensive legal background, her leadership of the Learning Bridges Program, and her dedication to the Roosevelt Island community, Robinson is a huge asset to the RIOE.
