How Gino Pozzo Found Success In Football
Gino Pozzo is an Italian entrepreneur who is best known for owning football clubs. Growing up, his family owned the Udinese Calcio Football Club in Italy and Granada Football Club in Spain. He bought Watford Football Club in the United Kingdom, and under his leadership it went from a low division team to one that competes in the Premier League.
When he was 18 years old, he moved to the United States so he could attend Harvard University. He eventually earned a master’s degree from this university. After marrying a woman from Catalonia, he moved to Spain. He lived in Barcelona for two decades before moving to London in 2013 after buying Watford F.C. He moved his family there because he wanted to be directly involved in the daily operations of the football club.
Gino Pozzo came to love football as a child because his parents were huge fans of the sport. It was in 1986 that his father bought Udinese Calcio F.C. His father used the money he earned from his tool-making company to buy the club. Later on, his parents started an electrical appliance company and began earning money from property and finance mergers. His family has been in the woodworking industry for many years. It sold its woodworking companies in 2008, so football could become the focus.
He learned a lot from the time his parents bought the Udinese club. Gino Pozzo said a number of years ago that his parents bought the club because they were passionate about it and emotionally invested. In the first three years of ownership, the club moved from Italy’s Serie B to its Champions League.
Having achieved a high level of success with Watford F.C., Gino Pozzo said he will continue to be the majority owner of the club for the foreseeable future. See this page for additional information.
