One of the unique things about the film is that it primarily featured women, LGBTQ+ and Native Americans. O’Rourke wanted to flip the script on action films. He worked with these people and involved them as much as possible to make their stories more authentic. The film won an award for its diverse hiring practices.

O’Rourke is an activist. He has worked with the Legal Hand organization to provide legal support, healthcare, jobs, and shelter to immigrants and people with disabilities. He supports anti-opioid overdose initiatives in New York City. As someone who has lost friends due to drugs, O’Rourke understands the adverse effects of drugs. He also supports social workers and EMTs by providing drug testing strips and Narcan kits.
