Doug Haynes provides advice as The Council’s leader and advisors’ managing partner. Before forming The Council, Haynes had an illustrious career spanning various high-profile leadership roles. Most recently, Haynes was president of Point 72 Asset Management, where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of one of the world’s largest investment management companies. Prior to leading Point 72, Haynes served as a senior partner for McKinsey and Company. During his tenure, Haynes played a key role in developing the firm’s global technology practice. Before joining McKinsey, Haynes spent six years in software development and design consulting.

During his undergraduate studies, Doug Hayne graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. After graduating college, Hayne worked in engineering and computer programming jobs until he decided to pursue a career in management consulting. To do so, he attended the Darden Graduate School of Management, where he received an MBA. His education led him to the position of CEO of one of the largest financial services companies in North America.

During his 22 years at McKinsey, Haynes worked with a variety of diverse client groups across the globe. He embraced the company’s intellectual environment and thrived within it. Haynes considers himself fortunate for learning valuable lessons along the way.

His successes were built upon two guiding principles. First, he reminds himself daily that quality work is its reward. And second, he works with people who share his values. In response to the coronavirus, Haynes acknowledges that technological advancements make remote work possible. However, he prefers the personal connection that comes from meeting colleagues in person.

Doug Haynes is an active volunteer who gives back through various charitable organizations. His involvement stems from the desire to improve people’s lifestyles in order to make them happier.
