Doug Haynes, Managing Partner and President of The Council Advisors, is a philanthropist and advisor to top executives in the corporate and governmental sectors.
Doug was the head of Point72, which is one of the best equities hedge funds in the United States. He was the managing Partner at McKinsey & Company Prior to joining Point72, where he oversaw the global Operations practice and United States Northeast region.
Doug was one of the leaders of McKinsey’s High-Tech industry practice and helped start the firm’s practice in technology-based services. Before attending graduate business school, he worked for the CIA as a software developer and also worked for the General Electric plastics as an engineer
Doug is member the board of directors for The Center for Global Enterprise, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing effective global corporate leadership.
Doug Haynes is a long-time philanthropist dedicated to combating poverty, veteran support, and improving education.
He was a founding member of the Robin Hood Foundation and assisted in launching the Veterans Advisory Board, which generated more than twelve million to help the increased number of veterans coming back from Afghanistan and Iraq. He also works with New York companies to increase veterans’ job prospects.
He is a member of the Cohen Veteran’s Bioscience, Cohen Veteran’s Network, and The Center for Global Enterprise’s founding boards. He is a member of the board of directors for the New York-based Robin Hood Foundation.
He advises the founders of several startup companies, including ChainIQ and Obsidian Asset Management. Doug has been on the boards of Singtel Corporation and Randolph Macon Academy, among others.
Doug Haynes received a Bachelor of Science with honors in Mechanical Engineering from the University of West Virginia, where he was a member of the engineering honor societies Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma. He also received his MBA at the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate Business School as a Shermet Scholar.
