In a move that was of no surprise to anyone who follows NBA news, Wes Edens and his partner Marc Lasry were named the new owners of the Milwaukee Bucks basketball team.

This purchase ends the lengthy search that the team had ongoing in an attempt to find owners who had deep enough pockets to ensure the team would be able to function as it should. Wes Edens is an investment legend from New York who agreed to pay $550 million for the basketball franchise.

One of the key reasons that the former owner sold to the investment duo is because they were committed to keeping the team in the state of Wisconsin. As far as the previous owner was concerned, this was a dealbreaker when it came to negotiations.

While the competing investors have not revealed their identities, it is known that the bidding process reached a fever pitch. While Wes Edens obviously came out as the winner of the team, he still has his attention focused on his investment firm, Fortress.

While making a public statement after the purchase was finalized, Wes Edens commented that the two have been Bucks fans all of their lives and are 100% committed to making sure that the team stays in Milwaukee. They have no plans of upsetting the natural order of things in regard to their new acquisition.

The dup also stated that they will focus on garnering outside investors so that upgrades to the arena can be installed and capitalized on.
