Nick Millican: Innovations in Home Technology at the 2024 CES
If the offerings at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show are any indication, homeowners will soon have some very useful technology to make their lives easier and more interesting. Artificial intelligence seems to be the tech catchword nowadays. Current home innovations are centered around AI, according to Nick Millican, a leader in the real estate industry.
Although it’s too early to tell which of these emerging technologies will become hot consumer items and which will fade from view, all of them help make the home more personal for the homeowner. Here are some inventions from the show that Nick Millican highlighted.
LG Smart Home AI Agent
This AI agent is a mobile little robot with adorable eyes, stubby legs, and a myriad of cameras and sensors. The robot can report the temperature, humidity, and air quality around the home. It can notify you of unusual activity in the home and warn you if you’ve gone out and left lights on or windows open. When you return home, Nick Millican shares, it can come up to you and determine your mood from your facial expressions and tone of voice and play music to fit your mood.
Flappie
Suppose you have a rambunctious cat that loves the outdoors. But you don’t always like what your feline brings home. Flappie may be the ideal solution, Nick Millican comments to clients. Flappie uses AI to determine whether your cat has a bird, mouse, frog, or other animal in its mouth and prevents entry until they let it go. The device can scan your cat’s microchip and prevent any other cats from coming in. If you want to keep tabs on your cat, Flappie can track kitty’s travels and take and save photos of your cat, even at night.
This small, yellow robot zooms up to greet you when you come home with a custom message projected on the floor, Nick Millican finally comments. Ballie also can control the lights, play music, answer the phone, and monitor your home and pets for abnormal activity.
