Happy Joe’s Pizza Chain Plans To Put Up New Restaurants in North Texas’ Diverse Areas

Dubbed the taco pizza’s creator, Happy Joe’s, a Midwest ice cream and pizza store, intends to extend into North Texas in 2023. The Pizza and Ice Cream Parlor is expanding thanks to their newest licensee, a three-person Black-owned company group. Happy Joe’s first minority licensee is HJ SMS OpCo, LLC. They intend to extend the restaurant to Cedar Hill, Grand Prairie, and Arlington, three Texas cities with minority populations of 40% or greater.

“We’re excited to be the first minority group of Happy Joe’s pizza and ice cream,” said Rickey McBride, one of the business group’s three members. “Adding jobs to minority-populated areas has been an ambition for all of the owners.” The new partners grew up around Happy Joe’s American pizza parlor in the cities of Iowa and Illinois.

They had huge success. Here, they attended birthday parties, team festivities, and fun evenings to enjoy with friends and family. The Happy Joe’s group’s motivation to introduce the brand to Texas stems from their nostalgic childhood recollections in the celebratory and family-friendly environment.

Joe Witty started Happy Joe’s American Pizza and Ice Cream in 1972, in Davenport, Iowa. It now has 42 franchise and three company sites throughout the Midwest (Facebook). 

The business is credited with inventing the taco pizza, which is covered with taco-seasoned beef, refried bean sauce, lettuce, sausage, chips, and tomatoes. There are also specialized pizzas, salads, inventive sandwiches, spaghetti, and hand-dipped ice cream on the menu. According to McBride, the group is aiming to open the Happy Joe’s Texas site by the end of the summer, but locating the best spot in the D-FW region is their top priority.
