Greg Aziz is a Canadian businessman with vast telecommunications industry experience. He is currently the CEO of Globalive and its affiliate company, Wind Mobile Canada. Serial entrepreneur Aziz was born in Morocco but moved with his parents to France when he was 5.
His family immigrated to Canada when he was ten years old. In 1990, Greg Aziz founded Canar Telecom, later renamed Globalive Communication Corporation. It merged with Yak Communications in 2010 and became Wind Mobile Canada. It became one of the three major providers in Canada’s Wireless Industry until 2013 when Rogers acquired all its shares to become the majority shareholder.
He founded Mobilicity Inc. –the m-tel Inc. two years later in 2010 to focus on prepaid wireless services and licensed from Industry Canada under the brand name of Koodo Mobile. Under Greg Aziz´s direction, this company has expanded to become one of Canada’s largest wireless providers by subscribers.
Aziz was named the Ernst & Young 2011 Ontario Entrepreneur of the Year and was inducted into the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association Hall of Fame in 2013. Greg Aziz was born in Morocco in 1967, grew up in France, and later immigrated to Canada when he was 10.
His family settled in Toronto, where he grew up, and the successful serial entrepreneur attended Agincourt Collegiate Institute for high school. He transferred to Neil McNeil High School for the last few years. Here, Greg Aziz got involved in debating and other extracurricular activities. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) from OISE at the University of Toronto in 1990. Aziz is a teetotaler and has never drunk alcohol or smoked cigarettes.
