Emergency In Ukraine

On Monday, May 30, a humanitarian relief lorry transporting refugees was shelled as it travelled into Lysychansk in the Luhansk region of Ukraine. A French reporter on deck documenting the rescue was murdered in the bombing. The FRANCE 24 Panelists team interviewed the English relief volunteer who brought the vehicle to Ukraine. Although being labelled as humanitarian assistance, he said the truck was attacked. On that day, Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff, a video reporter for the French station BFMTV, was murdered while filming a civilian rescue in eastern Ukraine. There were ten Ukrainian refugees and a local officer inside the truck when it was attacked and Leclerc-Imhoff and his Ukrainian and French coworkers.

According to the provincial chief of police, an artillery barrage hit in front of the truck, blasting fragmentation through the windscreen. The armoured vehicle had landed in Ukraine as a portion of a humanitarian supply mission from England. Individual citizens of Gloucester, United Kingdom, have banded together to provide goods to Ukrainian citizens. Alastair Chambers, a Gloucester Council Member, was one among the individuals who assisted with the humanitarian effort, driving the vehicle from London to Ukraine on May 8.

During an interview, Alastair stated that As a result, he and his pals delivered the truck to Ukraine. They have been stocking these trucks with medical supplies, foods, hygiene supplies, baby items, and top-of-the-line medical equipment like anaesthetic machines, X-ray equipment, and scanners. They delivered hospital equipment to the Mykolaiv hospital in southern Ukraine and humanitarian supplies to the orphanage. He stated that they met with some Ukrainians upon dropping people off, gave over the keys, and demonstrated how well the vehicle functioned. According to their information, the truck was then transported to the Donbas region and utilized to evacuate people from locations being bombarded. And he does not doubt that the vehicle saved the lives of hundreds of people by transporting them away from the bombarded areas.
