At Natixis John Hailer Spearheaded Portfolio Trends
John Hailer, C.F.A., Managing Director and Head of Portfolio Trends at Natixis Investment Managers in New York, discusses the changes in the global financial markets.
Hailer has been a part of three portfolios over his career worth more than $1 billion. CNBC, Bloomberg TV and other media outlets have interviewed him. In addition to being a contributor to Yahoo! Finance’s Market Movers column, he is also an industry analyst for Barron’s Online and writes for Seeking Alpha.
In his role at Natixis, Hailer commented on the significant changes in the U.S.U.S. and global financial markets. In a recent interview, he said: The world has turned upside down; investors are embracing volatility and high beta stocks as they accept accommodative monetary policies and higher interest rates as a new normal, while cash remains king as investors become more risk-averse than ever before.
Hailer joined Natixis in October 2012 after leaving Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services, where he served as Managing Director of Global Fixed Income Research. He is a popular speaker at conferences and industry events, including S.I.F.M.A., The Bond Buyer Annual State of the Market Conference and the Associated Private Client Investment Managers‘ Association. Hailer also frequently contributes to Market Movers for Yahoo! Finance and Barron’s Online. His articles have also appeared in various publications, including Seeking Alpha, UBS Group Research and the Wall Street Journal.
Before his position at S&P, John Hailer was with Deutsche Asset Management in New York as a Managing Director and Head of Global Fixed Income Portfolio Strategy. He also worked for JP Morgan Chase & Co. and Lehman Brothers Inc. John was President of the Fixed Income Analysts Society from 2008-2010 and is a member of the C.F.A. Institute Fixed Income Committee. He earned a B.A.B.A. in Finance from Fordham University and an M.B.A. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
One of the primary goals of John Hailer has been to find solutions to help investors navigate changes in the global financial markets. The main subject Hailer is interested in is that he wants to encourage people to make their own decisions about investing and not rely on others for advice. It is necessary for new investors, especially, to have a game plan when choosing a portfolio, even though there may be times when stocks are going down.
