Norka Luque is budding pop artist residing in Miami, FL. Even though she resides in the vibrant city, she wasn’t born there. Luque was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Her date of birth is February 7, 1986. She began training in instrument, dance and singing at the age of eight.
Ms. Martinez moved to France soon after she cleared high school. Her main intention of moving to France was to pursue higher education. However, she created time to pursue her musical ambitions as well. She enrolled in a French business school where she majored in business administration. At the end of the four-year course, she earned a degree in business administration. Additionally, she took extension courses in culinary arts, fashion, and marketing.
While a student in France, she had the opportunity to join a band (Bad Moon Rising). Her time with this band enabled her to make important connections in the European music community. This band performed on weekends in French nightclubs. Ms. Martinez knew that in order to have any chance of making it as a professional singer, she’d have to relocate to the USA.
She settled in Miami where she started performing in the nightclubs around the region. She worked on the club circuit for four years before meeting the renowned Latino music director, Emilio Estefan Jr. They met in 2008 and formed a working relationship that saw Mr. Estefan sign her to his record label Crescent Moon Records.
In 2011, Luque launched her first album. The album was a masterpiece; it was compiled by different professionals in the Latin music industry. Some of the professionals who made the album a success include Archie Pena, Hermanos Gaitán, Luigi Giraldo and Emilio Estefan.
Three singles from this album became international hits. “Como Lo Haces Tu,” was the first single off the album. This song got Martinez a nomination for the Best Female Pop Artist in the Lo Nuestro Latin Music Awards. Luque’s second single “Milagro” was also widely acclaimed and held top positions on the Latino Music Billboards.
In 2012, Ms. Martinez was featured on the cover of Latino Show Magazine. When she was asked to comment about working with Estefan, she said, “This is an opportunity that many talented artists dream of having. I feel so blessed that Mr. Estefan liked my musical project, working with him is a miracle, a school of life; and every day I learn something new.”
